ARMAND Martine
Research Associate (PhD)
at INSERMSenior INSERM Scientist (CRHC)
Research Associate (PhD)
Detailed Activities
After a BTS in Dietetics (1984) because Martine wished to do “short academic education in Nutrition”, she prepared a license in “Life & Health” (Biochemistry and Physiology), a Master’s degree and then a DEA in Nutrition, and finally a thesis in Sciences in speciality “Cellular Biology and Microbiology” on a Nutrition subject (Enzymatic and physico-chemical aspects of the digestion of food lipids”). Because the USA was a “teenage girl’s dream” she left 15 months for Washington DC (with an Inserm grant in her pocket) to train in Clinical Nutrition in the “Developmental Biology and Nutrition” Laboratory of Prof. Margit Hamosh at Georgetown University Hospital. Because she thought her skills could be helpful for improving people health, she postulated at INSERM, and was appointed in 1996 as an INSERM Scientist on a project related to Lipid Nutrition and Human Health. Martine works mainly in the field of omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in relation to health and the impact of an imbalance in these PUFAs and various life situations (prematurity, type 1 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, DOHaD).
Main research areas
– Fatty acid composition of breast milk according to the mother’s status.
– fatty acids in DOHaD
