Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping Workshop - March 29, 2017

Dear colleagues,

Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is now a very active field of research in MRI for studying tissue magnetism in a wide range of biomedical problems. QSM offers potential new insights into diseases that involve neurodegeneration, inflammation, hemorrhage, abnormal oxygen consumption, substantial alterations in highly paramagnetic cellular iron, bone mineralization, pathologic calcification, or investigations involving contrast agents.

To help spread the benefits of QSM in the French MRI community, we are organizing a scientific workshop at the Center for Magnetic Resonance in Biology and Medicine, Aix-Marseille University (CRMBM-CEMEREM, AMU-CNRS-APHM) on March 29, 2017. The workshop consists of invited lectures by established investigators and poster presentations by attendees and aims to achieve the following objectives :

1) teaching basics of both QSM technology and magnetic biomedicine in order to not only prepare engineers/physicists for technical developments, but also to prepare clinicians for applying QSM in their studies.

2) surveying current QSM research opportunities for developing both techniques and biomedical applications.

3) stimulating interactions among attendees to foster scientific collaborations.
