Mission statement

The objective of our research is to study metabolic, physiological and functional damages in cardiovascular pathologies (ischemia, diabetic cardiomyopathy, atherosclerosis, atrial fibrillation). We develop and use magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and imaging (MRI) combined with biochemical and molecular techniques. Our research activities include isolated perfused heart studies as well as in vivo animal heart studies. In parallel, the human heart is investigated ex vivo (heart grafts) and in vivo in patient protocols using dedicated MRI and MRS techniques. Activities also include MRI and MRS method development and the application of these techniques to animal models and humans as well as complementary analyses of biochemistry and molecular biology.

The heart group is a multidisciplinary team with skills in biochemistry, physiology, physics, medicine and surgery
